Monterey B.t.
This product is well-loved by our own staff to help with caterpillar issues. It is a spray that contains a bacterium called Bacillus thuringiensis which is deadly to these pests but harmless to humans or pets. Be sure to apply weekly. It is certified organic.
LEAF MINER
This is an insect that is a beetle or larvae that eventually becomes a moth. The best evidence to see if you have them is the appearance of what looks like saw dust at the base of your plant and small holes along the trunk.

Bonide Captain Jack’s Deadbug Brew

The active ingredient in this product is what makes it so great. Spinosad is a chemical that helps kill and keep insects away. For the leaf miner, it is best when paired with a trap so that you know when to spray. You can use this for organic gardening.
Traps
Set these out in the early summertime in your citrus trees so that they attract the adult leaf miners. When you see them in your traps you know it is time to start spraying your tree to prevent damage. Best paired with Bonide Captain Jack’s Deadbug Brew.

SNAILS & SLUGS
Everyone knows about these slimy creatures. They hide in the ground, at the bases of thick vegetative plants or under things such as rocks. They come out at night to wreak havoc on young plants and leave slime trails in their wake.

Corry’s
Spread this around the areas of issue. Reapply if it gets wet.
EARWIGS
These guys are also known as pincher bugs and act like loggers to new sprouts. They come out only at night so if you suspect you have them set out a rolled-up newspaper overnight and see if any crawled in when you unroll it in the morning. They like to live underneath rocks, pots and decaying matter.
